 Besty News-On 12 June, 2023, a ceremony of unveiling the commemorative plaque at the Pasopati Submarine Monument was held in Surabaya.

Ambassador Vorobieva: «Today we are witnessing a remarkable event in our bilateral relations. This ceremony is dedicated to honoring outstanding partnership that existed between our states in 1950-1960s when the Soviet leader Nikita Kruschev and the first President of Indonesia Soekarno laid the principles of strong friendship, respect and trust to the basis of Russia-Indonesia cooperation. With no doubt, nowadays we continue to work on bringing our relations even closer».

The plaque reads: In the memory of the friendly Indonesian-Russian relations in the struggle for territorial integrity of the Republic of Indonesia.

🇷🇺🇮🇩 The ceremony was attended by Ambassador of Russia to Indonesia Mrs Lyudmila Vorobieva, Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy Mr Muhammad Ali and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Mr Igor Mukhametshin.

Submarine «S-79 Pasopati» contributed a lot to the struggle of the Republic of Indonesia for independence and territorial integrity. It was gifted by USSR in 1963, and this celebratory event is another reminder of our fruitful partnership that has been successfully and dynamically developing in many areas for more than seven decades.
